President's Report - 26 August 2025
Hello members.
Our Committee held the last meeting for it's appointed term on 21August.
Main items discussed were:
1. The search for water. McMillans will return to us either the w/c 8/9 or w/c 15/9 to drill one more well in our search for irrigation water. The site chosen is approx. 20metres in front of the lower tee on hole 13. Both senior geologist at ECAN and the driller believe this area is our best chance of finding water, being below the fault line escarpment and in a known shingle area.
Four diviners, independently, pin-pointed the site we have chosen. Unfortunately this time we have to self-fund the exploration as grants received from Minland Trust have been exhausted. We are fairly confident of success, and we sure hope so, as we still haven't found a viable Plan B if this well is dry. We will keep you posted.
2. The 2026-30 Strategic Plan. This was emailed to members on 18 July inviting feedback. There was minimal feedback which we will take as a positive. The suggestions that we did receive mainly revolved around an additional part-time staff member and a concerted focus on our social media activity. With these late additions the Plan has been "locked down".
3. AGM. The AGM will be held, in the Clubhouse, before club day golf at 10:30am on Saturday 20 September. The Agenda and Annual Accounts will be emailed to you, on or before, Friday 6 September. The Accounts have been completed and are currently with Brett Chambers, our Auditor.
We will also be calling for nominations for the roles of President, Vice President, Men's Club Captain, Ladies Club Captain and 4 committee members so please consider whether you are interested in one of these roles.
4. Tournament entries update.
The Men's 54 hole tournament is full.
There are more than 50 entries for each of the Ladies 9 and 18 hole 3 day tournaments in February and March. This is amazing as only 60 played in each of these tournaments in 2025. Word has clearly spread that the tournaments were so well run and with some fun social activities. We are well on the way to 100+ entries in each event.
35 teams have already registered for the Senior Pro-Am out of a maximum 45 teams. If you haven't yet registered a team then please get in quickly.
5. Pruning of dangerous and low hanging branches has been completed.
6. Carolyn and Nicky have several social events planned between now and Christmas. More details later.
See you all at the AGM.
Cheers, Graham, on behalf of the Committee,.
