Hanmer Springs Ladies 18-hole 3 day Tournament.

128 ladies from 26 different clubs around the South Island were in Hanmer for three days last week to compete in the 79th Hanmer Ladies 3 day 18 hole tournament.

The weather was stunning and the course was in fantastic condition. My thanks to Steve and Neil and Dad’s army for all their effort.

There was great golf played and plenty of after match entertainment, thanks to Carolyn’s amazing musical ability and MC skills, ably assisted by Nicky.

The winner of the Tiny Parson Trophy for Best Overall Gross was Jo McNichol from Harewood with a gross score of 79.

The Jean Wilson trophy for Best Overall Nett was won by Lyn Blakie from Temuka with a nett 63.

The Bev Pool trophy for Best Nett Division 1 was won by Maryanne Glasson from Hokitika with a nett 65.

The Barbara Reese trophy for Best Stableford was won by Michelle Bower from Pleasant Point with  39 Stablefords, on a countback from Margaret Glass from Mt Nessing.

The 4BBB Stableford competition was won by Maree Herlund and Jade Sadler with a score of 50 stablefords (on countback from Beckie Carlson and Tania Chin from Hagley).

It was great to have ten Hanmer ladies participating in the tournament this year and they all did very well:

Boio Sarahu-Hothersall & Sue Turner were 4th in the 4BBB.

Abi Middlehurst and her partner from North Otago were 9th in the 4BBB

Jade Sadler was 5th  Div 1 Stableford

Nicky West was 10th  Div 1 Stableford

Sue Turner was 3rd Div 2 Stableford

Rae Bowyer was 3rd Div 3 Stableford

Louise Pearce was 5th Div 3 Stableford

Louise Pearce was 1st Nett Div 3

Rae Bowyer was 2nd Nett Div 3

Fiona Beale was 3rd Nett Div 3

A huge congratulations to you all.

Thank you very much to all the Tournament Committee (Mike, Bev, Carolyn and Nicky) as well as all the club members who volunteered their time to assist with the tournament. To Ken and Greg and also, David O’Brien for all his assistance.

We had massive support from the Hanmer business community, as well as club members, by way of sponsorship.

Our Eagle Sponsors were Homestead, Four Square Hanmer Springs, Mhor, Oddjob Unlimited (Ken & Carolyn Williams) and Springs Holiday Houses.

We also had 11 Birdie Sponsors and over 20 Par sponsors.

A huge thank you to them all – their support was very much appreciated.

Meet the new addition at Hanmer Springs Golf Club.

Welcome to Golf Pro Marc Kelly

We are very pleased to welcome our newest recruit. We have made some adjustments to the hours worked by Mike and David to ensure there is no extra cost to the club ........and we now have 3 dedicated staff to cover our busy office. Be sure to say hello when next playing.

My name is Marc Kelly and I’m very pleased to be joining the team at Hanmer Springs Golf Club, working in the golf shop and around the club. I’ve been a member of the Professional Golfers' Association for the past 12 years, and golf has been both a profession and a passion of mine for a long time. I’m really looking forward to bringing that experience to the club and helping members with anything from equipment advice to general golfing tips.

My wife and I live nearby and love the lifestyle this area offers, particularly the outdoors. Since arriving, it’s been great to see what a welcoming and friendly club community Hanmer Springs has. I’m excited to meet more members, spend time around the course, and do my part to help make the golf shop a helpful and enjoyable place to visit.

Please feel free to come and say hello when you’re in the shop — I’m always happy to talk golf, help with equipment, or just have a chat. I look forward to getting to know many of you over the coming months.

Cheers

Marc

Property market commentary - Summer 2026 by our sponsor Bayleys - Hanmer Springs.

As we move through another busy summer season in Hanmer Springs, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the strength of our local property market.

2025 / 2026 Residential sales - Hanmer Springs (REINZ)

December - 9

January - 3 (Short month)

February - 9

The Bayleys Hanmer team have worked hard over this holiday period and achieved a great number of these sales. These results are not only something we are incredibly proud of, but they also reflect our deep local knowledge, strong buyer networks, and commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients.

While the numbers tell one story, what truly drives us is helping people achieve their property goals - whether that’s securing the perfect holiday home, making a permanent move to Hanmer Springs, or achieving a successful sale in a changing market. The ongoing activity we’re seeing highlights continued confidence in Hanmer Springs as both a lifestyle destination and a smart property investment.

One of the most exciting developments currently underway is the central village subdivision, Red Barn Estate. Perfectly positioned, this exciting offering combines convenience with lifestyle - located close to the golf course, the renowned Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa, and the vibrant town centre. Red Barn Estate presents a rare opportunity for buyers looking to secure a premium section in a highly desirable location. Priced from $379,000 and titles now issued for stage 1.

As always, our focus remains on providing honest advice and exceptional service to both buyers and sellers. If you’ve been considering making a property move - or simply want to understand where your property sits in the current market - we would love to have a conversation.
