Simes and Bascand Cups and Minson Salver

On Saturday 14 th March 16 pairs of golfers teed off on a beautiful Hanmer morning to play in the annual Simes and Bascand Cups and Minson Salver 27 hole Mixed American foursomes tournament.
 

The eventual winners of the Simes Cup with a nett 99.5 were Stretch Renai and Rae Bowyer.
Runners up were Mike Gibbon and Liz Gibbon with a nett 100, on countback from Frankie and Kaye Soli.
The three-peat winners of the Bascand Cup were Geoff Rudduck and Mel Newburn with a gross score of 109, well ahead of the runners up Charlie Westlake and Kasey Cross with a gross score of 118.

Winners of the Minson Salver were defending champions Levi and Jade Sadler with a nett score of 100.5.

Congratulations to all the winners.

A highlight of the day was the slam dunk second shot by Liz Gibbon from the bottom of the bank for a two on the wrecker!

2026 Club Championships format change  

Based on member feedback last year and in order to have this competition run smoothly there will be a slightly different format to the Club Championships this year.

If you wish to play in the Club Championships please enter your name with Mike before 01 April 2026. There will no qualifying rounds. There will be a seeded draw for each grade.

First round matches will need to be played by 11th April.

Second round matches are to be played by 25th April.

Third round matches to be played by 23rd May.

Club Champs finals day will be on Saturday 31st May.

If a match cannot be played by the due date the match committee will nominate a winner based on effort made to play.

Agapanthus

Thank you to Jocelyn and Nigel Humpreys for the beautiful Agapanthus which we have used to green up the 10th tee block and the fence along the bowls club.
