President’s update - 24 June 2026

Hello everyone.

Here’s the latest update from the Committee.

1. Subs and Fees

The Committee has fully researched the market to benchmark our charges against all other clubs that we feel are the best comparison to our Club.

This exercise proved that our subs and fees are below almost all of those other comparative clubs. This is not surprising as we didn’t increase our subs or fees last year.

As a result, the Committee agreed to increase the charges of our major items as follows, effective from 1 July 2026:

Subs – full membership from $728 to $780

Secondary membership from $650 to $695

9 Hole membership from $438 to $460

Members Guests from $35 to $38

Electric carts hire - 18 holes from $40 to $50

Petrol carts - 18 Holes remain at $40

This is not a complete list as there are some changes to other categories (including green fees,  juniors, summer members, trundler hire, etc)

2. Finances

Our trading results for the 11 months of the financial year to 31 May are very pleasing and show that our Net Profit is pretty much in line with last year. Our green fees and subs income are almost identical to last year while our bar takings and golf shop income are slightly down. Our costs remain under good control and we are operating at a healthy profit.

Our cash flow is more positive than expected because we had budgeted for $75k to fund the 2025-6 “final stage” of our water search, but less than $10k was actually incurred.

Hence the Committee has decided to repay a further $50k of the Bank Loan ($85k was repaid last year) leaving a loan balance outstanding of approx. $25k at year end.

3. Capital expenditure

The bar floor has been repaired and the new vinyl looks great. We now have a new chest freezer in the bar storeroom.

As I write this the kitchen has been stripped out and we have no floor. The floor was substantially rotten and is being totally replaced. Hopefully new vinyl will be laid next week.

And then we will then install new appliances -fridge, gas range and dishwasher. The bench has already been extended work. The Work is in progress on the kitchen floors and bench and the replacement of appliances.

We sincerely thank David O’Brien for his excellent project management and Ken Williams and Richard Campbell for their fantastic hard work on these repairs. We also acknowledge

Fred Saunders, Mark Donaldson and Jason Hill for their expertise.

The women’s changing room has had minor modifications and a new vanity unit and mirror installed.

New power poles were erected on Holes 1 and 2 (the electricity connection to the Greenkeepers shed) to replace poles that were a health and safety risk.

The trees lining the LHS of holes 17 and 18 will be planted in September.

We have purchased some new premium golf clubs for hire and are planning to buy new carts later in the year when the lease on some of the existing carts runs out.

4. Strategic Plan

We reviewed the 5 year Strategic Plan for 2026-30 and see no need to change any of the key directions that were set when the plan was developed, and circulated to members, last year.

5. Club Championships

Congratulations to the very worthy winners – Abi Middlehurst, Jade Sadler, Steve Pearson, Mike Gibbon, and Ken Williams … and also congratulations to the runners up in each grade

– Sandra Best, Boio Sarahu-Hothersall, Brent Berry, Wayne Jones and Crain Meaclem.

Well done Mike for your organisation of this tournament.

6. Annual General Meeting

We have scheduled the AGM date to be held on Saturday 19 September at 10am.

Kind regards
Graham, on behalf of the Committee
