54 Hole Tournament

If you’re passing the course this weekend, you’ll notice a full car park and a course teeming with players. We are now well into our main annual event for men. The 54-hole open. Thank you to all our volunteers for making this event run smoothly. Feel free to drop by the club house any time; the tournament will climax around 2pm on Sunday. Unfortunately, the course is closed for play until late Sunday.

Sponsors Day

We really couldn’t maintain the course to its high standard without the generous support provided by our sponsors. By way of a thank you, we recently hosted our sponsors for an afternoon of drinks and golf. For the golf, we embedded a club member (anonymous......but thank you Greg) with one group that hadn’t played golf previously. The following is his hilarious report.

"I had the pleasure of hosting one of our valuable sponsors for a fun afternoon at our recent sponsors' day.

The game was more swish-ping-doink than golf. There were two left-handers, one right-hander, and one who couldn’t decide which was best.

If all the gin shots were dealt with, a 46oz bottle of Gordons would not have been enough to handle it. Having had a few complimentary beverages prior to playing, there were numerous trips to the toilet at the 5th tee.

Shots of the day included one notable hit on the head as the ball went straight up in the air and went bonk and rolled forward 6 metres. Needless to say, we didn’t use this for the next shot in the ambrose.  Even better was a shot hit very well but low that richocheted off the ladies' tee marker and whistled past our heads at 100kph, heading backwards so far that the ball had to be recovered in a cart by another group.

Talking and joking never stopped, even when someone was playing a shot. I would arrive at the next tee, but my team were some way behind, still laughing and chatting. I suggested we get cars and put the lights on to illuminate our last few holes.

However, the shots did get better as the day went on, and one of the players, who had never previously played, is keen to join the club and take up golf. I have no doubt any of these guys would add fun and personality to the club.

What a great day with lots of laughter and fun".

Mike's Pro Tip

Arm position that is consistent

Keeping good arm structure throughout your swing is so important when looking for consistency. It’s common to lose that structure by allowing your elbows to separate post-impact. This is known as "chicken wing'. A good hack to fix this is to wedge an object ( maybe a headcover) between your forearms at setup and keep it there as you swing. This will help you maintain the correct relarticle text goes here
